Ukraine House in Vancouver is a joint project of Ukrainians, both in Canada and Ukraine. Organizers of Ukraine House, the Embassy of Ukraine in Canada, the National Olympic Committee of Ukraine and the Ukrainian Canadian Congress, have joined forces on the eve of the XXI Winter Olympic Games to create a place where all fans can gather to watch broadcasts of the Olympics, meet famous athletes, celebrate victories, exchange souvenirs, learn about the life and culture of the Ukrainian diaspora in Canada, taste Ukrainian perogies or drink a jug of beer with other Ukrainians from all around the world. Ukraine House owes its existence primarily to the efforts of dedicated and efficient volunteers. It is funded by voluntary donations from the Ukrainian Canadian community. The program of events for Ukraine House has been developed and will be implemented by a strong team of volunteers – Ukrainians of different generations, immigrants from different regions of Ukraine and other countries, all united by their faith in themselves and in their nation. Located in the heart of Vancouver, at the Ukrainian Catholic Church -3150 Ash Street, Ukraine House will be a small piece of Ukraine in Canada. Every day, starting on February 11, 2010, the House will host honored guests and people who wish to support and strengthen the spirit of the Ukrainian National Olympic team. Planned events include entertainment for the general public as well as more formal celebrations on the occasion of opening of the Games and special receptions for guests of honor.
