At 2 o’clock in the afternoon (PST, midnight Ukrainian time) on February 4th a plane with 27 Ukrainian athletes, among them were members of biathlon team, figure skaters, skiers, and members of the National Olympic Committee, landed in Vancouver. The capital of the XXI Olympic Winter Games greeted the Ukrainians with real spring weather - sunny and + 10 C. The difficult 19 hour flight was behind them. Even before entering the international arrival terminal, the Ukrainian athletes suddenly heard a loud chant "Ukraine! Ukraine! Ukraine!" Representatives of the Ukrainian House and Ukrainian diaspora had been waiting for the athletes to honor and bless possible future world champions.
