WELCOME TO UKRAINE HOUSE!
Official home of Ukraine’s Olympic team for the 2010 Winter Olympics is being run jointly by the National Olympic Committee of Ukraine, Embassy of Ukraine in Canada and Ukrainian Canadian Congress. Ukraine House will be officially opened on February 11th, 2010 and will be open to the public from February 12th through to the 28th. Located at the Ukrainian Catholic Centre at 3150 Ash Street in Vancouver, BC. [MAP]
Winter Paralympic Games: the dynamics of formation Print

The first attempt to compete in winter sports was made in 1948 in Badhasteyn, Austria. It was the first championship held in Austria with ski races (so-called three track skiing), which was attended by 17 athletes with locomotor impairments.

For the first time international winter sports competitions for the disabled were held in 1976 in ?rnsk?ldsvik, Sweden. 250 athletes from 14 countries participated in the first Winter Paralympic Games.

Having made a debut in Sweden, representatives of 18 countries gathered in the Norwegian city Gayle in 4 years. The number of participants of the II Winter Paralympic Games exceeded the figure of 350 athletes.
